french toast
- 3 slices of day-old French Bread
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- pinch salt
In a flat bowl, lightly beat egg. Add milk, sugar and salt. Whisk until well blended and sugar and salt are dissolved.
Over medium-low heat, melt some butter in a frying pan.
Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl, letting slices soak up the egg mixture only until fully coated. Turn to coat the other side of the slice. Only soak the number of slices that you are able to cook at one time.
Place slices on the heated pan until underside is golden brown. Using a spatula, flip to cook the other side of each slice.
Slather your french toast with butter, sprinkle powdered sugar and your favourite syrup.
